Killer Mike And Damian Jr. Gong Marley Team Up For RUN Remix Music Video

Killer Mike calls on Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley for a reimagined version of his song “RUN.”

Initially released in July 2022 as the lead single from his latest acclaimed album Michael, the track is described as a statement record about Black excellence in the face of systemic adversity and the intrinsic role Black people have had in shaping American culture and economy.

The colorful music video finds both musicians in Miami, spending time with residents and dancing freely to the Carribean-infused beat.

“Hip-Hop and Reggae are both people’s music. People’s music speaks for the salt of the Earth, the worker class that toils and constitutes the masses,” explains Killer Mike. “I am proud that Bob’s son and Denise’s son united the music, the vibes, and the diaspora to make this song for THE PEOPLE. Run to glory together! Love and respect.”

MICHAEL, released by the Atlanta native in June 2023, is currently nominated for Best Rap Album at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, set to air live in 2024. The track “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” which features Future, Andre 3000, and Eryn Allen Kane also earned nominations in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance categories.

“It’s imperative that I get that out and introduce people to this buck-toothed kid who grew up with hip-hop, out of wedlock fatherhood,” described the 48-year-old to GRAMMY of the album. “This record is like a prodigal son coming home. It’s my generational statement. If August Wilson was writing a rap album, this would be his Fences.

Dro Kenji Takes Fans On Wild Ride With New Single "Amsterdam"

Rage has really come to define a large chunk of hip hop. The subgenre is built on frenetic beats and unhinged vocals from the likes of Playboi Carti, Yeat, and others. Dro Kenji fits neatly under the rage bill. He possesses the intensity to pull the style off, and his ability to weave in and out of instrumentals that would utterly baffle other rappers is undeniable. "Amsterdam" is the latest Dro Kenji offering, and it proves to be one of his most hypnotic releases to date.

Dro Kenji's delivery trounces his lyrics. His vocals demand attention from the moment he gets on the track. That said, the rapper has a knack for finding extremely catchy pockets. "She pulled up with two big BBLs, I'm like, Damn, I want that,'" he raps. "I woke up with diamonds in my ears, yeah, I Alex Moss'd 'em. She get freaky often, had me fantasizin' 'bout it, but I'm capital P." The way Dro Kenji delivers these bars makes the difference between a passable one and an extremely catchy one. Like we said, though, the production plays a crucial role in making "Amsterdam" success. The synth line that repeats during Dro Kenji's verses is a masterstroke of simplicity. It's impossible to listen to this instrumental and not want to bob your head.

Quotable Lyrics:

It's like 4 a.m. in Amsterdam, we finally found the weed
She like fifteen n**gas deep right now, she finally choosin' me
I'm like one, two, three, four M's, I know this b*tch won't bring me peace
