TYLER, THE CREATOR ADMITS HE USED TO 'HATE' CHILDISH GAMBINO AFTER COACHELLA DUET

INDIO, CA - Tyler, The Creator has admitted he used to “hate” Childish Gambino — while sharing the stage with the man himself.

The Odd Future founder brought out Gambino as a surprise guest during his headlining performance at Coachella on Saturday (April 13), with the Georgia native singing the hook on “Running Out of Time” and adding some gorgeous harmonies.

After their duet was over, Tyler revealed he used to dislike Childish Gambino and can’t put his finger on why.

“I used to hate that n-gga,” he said, prompting laughs from the crowd. “Seriously. I don’t know why. I gotta go to therapy to figure it out.”

However, Tyler’s opinion changed when he heard “Urn,” from Gambino’s 2013 album Because the Internet.

“Then this n-gga put this song called ‘Urn’ out,” he said. “It was so undeniable, n-gga. I was at conflict with myself ’cause I’m like, ‘Fuck! How could a n-gga that I hate so much be so good?’ And now, the tables have turned and this n-gga barely returns my calls.”

He continued: “Donald, I fuck with you. Thank you for putting out shit that exceeds expectations or the perception that n-ggas like us should make. I love you. Thank you for existing and thank you for coming out. Please give him another round of applause.”

Despite appearing on stage together, the pair have yet to release music together — although they did face off in a fictional rap battle in a 2011 episode of the animated sitcom Regular Show.

Tyler, The Creator’s headlining Coachella set saw him perform 23 songs including “Wusyaname,” “Dogtooth,” “She,” “Tron Cat,” “Yonkers,” “Odd Toddlers,” “Smuckers” and “Earfquake.”

As well as Childish Gambino, other special guests included A$AP Rocky, Kali Uchis and Charlie Wilson.

Just days before his Coachella performance, Tyler revealed that he was concerned about the 11:40 p.m. start time due to his early bedtime.

“Dawg I’m sleep by 10 every night this is fucked,” he wrote on Instagram. “I will take a nap on stage. No lie tho its a task to stay up late for me man im an early bird.”

The Grammy-winner is no stranger to the Coachella stage having previously performed at the festival in 2015 and 2018 following his Cherry Bomb and Flower Boy albums, respectively.

He also performed in 2011 as part of Odd Future. The group were kicked out after spraying security guards with water guns, but Tyler managed to get back into the festival to see Lil B perform.

Tyler will return to Coachella for the second weekend of the festival this Saturday (April 20).

SZA & KEKE PALMER TO RECAPTURE 'SNL' CHEMISTRY IN NEW ISSA RAE-PRODUCED BUDDY COMEDY

SZA and Keke Palmer are set to recapture the chemistry from their 2022 Saturday Night Live episode for a new buddy comedy produced by Issa Rae.

Announced by Deadline on Friday (April 26), the as-of-yet untitled film is written by Rap Sh!t showrunner Syreeta Singleton, with fellow Rap Sh!t director Lawrence Lamont tapped to direct. No other details, including a release date, have been revealed.

The movie will mark SZA’s acting debut, though she got to tease her chops during the December 2022 SNL episode where she served as musical guest alongside Keke as host. According to Deadline, the SOS singer had been considering “a number of projects, and the opportunity to reunite with Palmer was too good to pass up.”

Reacting to the announcement with a screenshot of the article in an Instagram post, Keke wrote, “I CANT WAIT!!!”

On the music front, SZA recently announced that she will be remaking Lana – the deluxe edition of her SOS album – from scratch after fans leaked a number of songs slated for the project.

In since-deleted posts to Twitter/X  in late March, the “Snooze” singer expressed frustration at the songs hitting the web.

She wrote: “So, we’ll make this really simple. Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting ‘Lana’ from scratch. Do not ask me about it again. Thank you.”

In a second post, she added: “I’ll round up the leaks y’all already got and u can have those. Seems like a fair deal. ENJOY.”

Earlier that month, the TDE singer ramped up excitement for Lana after releasing a racy teaser video.

With a caption that said: “Never fight over community D,” the TDE singer posted a video on Instagram, which included a snippet of a new song.

The accompanying visuals showed her frolicking around a room in a tent while wearing nothing but a red bikini.

SZA has been teasing an expansion of her blockbuster sophomore album for a while.

Late last year, she posted a number of potential covers for the deluxe version, titled Lana, and suggested the project would drop before Christmas but it never did.

She also spoke about the release with Billboard, saying: “After I do the deluxe, I’m hoping to be able to accept that this chapter is done. I’m looking forward to actually feeling proud of myself and not just smiling and nodding at accolades but really feeling it internally and knowing that I’m good enough.”

She added: “I guess I need to stop trying to figure out what it means and start realizing and living in what it is.”
