Arcade Fire have announced a second ‘Funeral’ 20th-anniversary show at London’s Brixton Academy.

The additional London date was added “Due to demand” and will take place on Friday July 5 at the famous venue. Tickets will go on general sale tomorrow (April 19) at 10am local time. Visit here to purchase tickets.

The announcement of the new London date comes three days after the band – comprised of frontman Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara – revealed that they will be playing at Brixton’s O2 Academy in London on July 4. Warmduscher will be serving as opening support for both nights.

Arcade Fire ‘Funeral’ 20th anniversary tour dates are:

Back in February, the band shared two separate invitation posts that read: “Save the date. Arcade Fire invite you to attend a celebration of the twentieth anniversary of their debut album ‘Funeral’”. The caption of the posts read: “We will be playing a limited number of special concerts, and we would be honoured if you would join us. Black tie optional; should be real fun.”

The first two dates to be revealed were July 2 at the Fiera Milano in Rho, Italy and July 7 at the Malahide Castle in Dublin, Ireland. Echo And The Bunnymen were also announced as special guests for the Ireland date with more to been shared soon.

Arcade Fire released ‘Funeral’ on September 14, 2004 via Merge Records. In 2005, the LP earned a Grammy nomination in the category for  Best Alternative Music Album. Since its release, ‘Funeral’ has received widespread critical acclaim and has been considered one of the greatest albums of all time.

The band previously played the album in full back in 2018 at their show in Los Angeles on September 20. They treated fans to all 10 tracks – back-to-front – before diving into the rest of their 23 song setlist.

‘Funeral’ is one of many classic 2004 albums which are turning 20 this year. Journalist Rhian Daly wrote: “[the album] was so called after many of the band’s members had suffered losses in their families, but out of grief came a new beginning. The record – a sprawling, epic, theatrical beauty – immediately won the group widespread acclaim, striking a chord with its cathartic and artful compositions.”

The band have been met with controversy in recent years. In August 22, frontman Win Butler was accused of sexual misconduct and “inappropriate” behaviour by four people. Those actions ranged from sexual assault to sending unwanted explicit text messages and pursuing relationships with fans of the band much younger than him. The following November, a fifth person came forward to accuse Butler of “emotionally abusive, manipulative, toxic” behaviour towards them.

Butler has denied allegations of misconduct, saying he was “very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour” but that all contact with his accusers was “consensual”.

In other news, Arcade Fire have announced a run of festival dates for summer 2024 and are set to play this year’s edition of Bilbao BBK Live. • A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE’S UK CONCERT ABORTED JUST MINUTES AFTER DOORS OPEN

A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE’S UK CONCERT ABORTED JUST MINUTES AFTER DOORS OPEN

MANCHESTER, UK - A Boogie Wit da Hoodie has seen his concert in Manchester, England canceled after doors had already opened.

The Bronx rapper was due to perform at Co-Op Live, a brand new indoor arena, on Wednesday night (May 1) but the plug was pulled as he was preparing to hit the stage and some fans were still lining up outside.

The cancelation was put down to a “venue-related technical issue” and nothing to do with A Boogie, who became the third act to suffer a postponement at the yet-to-open venue following comedian Peter Kay and rock band The Black Keys.

Co-Op Live announced around 10 minutes after doors had opened that the concert would longer go ahead due to technical problems inside the venue itself apparently related to air-conditioning.

“We kindly ask fans to leave the area. Ticket holders will receive further information in due course,” they wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.”

In an Instagram Story after the last-minute cancelation was announced, A Boogie said the issues were down to “something [that] happened with the venue while I was at soundcheck.”

“We are working on rescheduling in the next few days,” he added. “I’m heated about the situation too, but safety first. Manchester, I got you. Just stay tuned for further info.”

It is not currently known when the Manchester date will be rescheduled.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has already encountered issues on his European tour following a violent incident in Paris.

The rapper and several members of his entourage got involved in an altercation outside a nightclub in the French capital earlier this week, leading to them being pepper sprayed by security.

In a video of the incident, the 28-year-old can be seen getting into a tense exchange with a bouncer before things escalate.

Soon after the clip of the brawl began making the rounds online, A Boogie wrote on social media: “N-ggas only got outta there cus they mased us! Never runnin from a n-gga.”

In a follow-up post, he added: “Lmao fuck I look like playin with mase n-ggas can’t fight.”

A Boogie and his entourage did not appear to suffer any legal ramifications from the incident given no arrests have so far been made and they left the country to fly to the UK to continue the tour.
