NCT’s Taeyong announces concert film ‘Taeyong: TY Track in Cinemas’

NCT rapper Taeyong, best known for being the leader of its NCT 127 sub-group, is releasing his first solo concert film, titled Taeyong: TY Track in Cinemas.

Today (September 5), distributors Trafalgar Releasing and CJ 4DPlex announced details for NCT member Taeyong’s upcoming concert film, Taeyong: TY Track in Cinemas. The film will feature footage from the K-pop idol’s Olympic Hall concert in Seoul earlier this year, alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, as well as a deep dive into his music and career.

The movie is slated to hit theatres worldwide on October 16 and 19 worldwide. Additional screening dates may vary. Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, September 12 at 6am PT via its official launch website. Fans will also be able to view it in ScreenX, 4DX, and Ultra 4DX where available.

“We’re thrilled to showcase [Taeyong’s] remarkable performance for NCTzens through this concert film. Unlike previous NCT releases, this movie highlights the essence of his decade-long artistic journey under the name TY TRACK,” said CJ 4DPLEX Chief Content Officer Jun Bang.

Trafalgar Releasing and CJ 4DPlex previously released two other NCT-related projects over the last two years, namely NCT DREAM The Movie In A DREAM and NCT NATION: To The World In Cinemas.

Taeyong is currently serving in the South Korean navy as part of his mandatory military service. The rapper enlisted earlier this April, and is due for discharge sometime in late 2025.

Prior to his enlistment, Taeyong made a solo comeback with his sophomore mini-album ‘Tap’. In a four-star review of the recordNME’s Carmen Chin wrote that Taeyong is able to “tap into his vulnerabilities and anxieties the same way he does his edginess and, more importantly, hit listeners where they feel it”.

In other K-pop news, the label of rookie girl group MADEIN has received significant backlash for the heavy use of AI-generated scenes in the K-pop act’s music video for ‘Uno’. Their agency’s CEO has since issued an apology on Instagram, adding that they will release an edit of the video without AI-generated VFX in “a few days”.

Victoria Canal announces debut album ‘Slowly, It Dawns’ with simmering single ‘Cake’

image

Victoria Canal has announced her forthcoming debut album ‘Slowly, It Dawns’ with a simmering new single ‘Cake’ – listen to it below.

The Spanish-American singer took to Instagram to share the news, announcing her debut album ‘Slowly, It Dawns’. The record is set to be released next year on January 17 via Parlophone Records.

On social media, Canal shared: “Whew. This is truly the culmination of my life’s work to date (super chill! i’m totally fine!) and by far the most ambitious project I’ve ever taken on, emotionally, artistically, spiritually.”

Saying that the album “documents the natural and continuous unraveling of life, and also its cyclical nature,” she continued: “There’s a consequence of diving into things fully, obsessively: you either find shining treasure, wildly fail, or come out somewhere in between – in any outcome, you learn and grow, eternally watering the flower that is “self”.”

“Thank you for being with me on this journey so far. Can’t wait to finally hand this over to you tenderly, bravely.”

Canal went on to release the debaucherous song ‘Cake’, describing the setting of the song as: “It’s 6am, you’re still going on a night out and everything’s gone a little too wonky… “Cake” is the bottled up feeling of dreading (and therefore adamantly avoiding) going back to adult responsibilities, and indeed the crushing weight of the world. It’s the desperate desire to hold onto the escape just a little bit longer, even as it starts to go sour.”

Take a listen to ‘Cake’ and see the album’s tracklist further down:

Victoria Canal’s ‘Slowly, It Dawns’ tracklist is:

‘June Baby’
‘Talk’
‘California Sober’
‘Cake’
‘15%’
‘Vauxhall’
‘How Can I Be A Person?’
‘Totally Fucking Fine’
‘Hollow’
‘Barely’
‘Black Swan’
‘swan song’

NME profiled the singer in September for our Breakout series last year, where she spoke of Chris Martin and his support for her song ‘swan song’. The Coldplay frontman hailed the track as one of the “best songs ever written“.

Speaking to NME, Canal said: “There’s a very specific feeling that comes with your idol recognising you as anything worthy of attention. I’m still pretty bewildered by the fact that he knows I exist, let alone that he will send me encouraging texts when I’m about to do a show being like, ‘You have everything you need inside of you, focus on the fans, they love you, you love them, prioritise that connection’.

“He’s just always about connection and gratitude, and being in the present, and he has such a love for music. I don’t think I know anyone else that has a more vast knowledge of music, and a greater interest in it after all these years.”

Victoria Canal will shortly embark on a number of shows later this year, where she will support Sammy Rae & The Friends along with her own UK/EU headline shows. See all dates below; get tickets for any US dates here and UK/EU dates here:
