Chappell Roan has fired back at a photographer who seemingly told the singer to “shut the fuck up” while at the 2024 MTV VMAs – see footage of the incident below.
While attending the red carpet for the MTV Video Music Awards, the NME Cover star was seen telling off a photographer: “Don’t! Not me, bitch!” Someone in the background was heard cheering her on, remarking, “Tell ’em, girl!!

Following the incident, Roan was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, where she spoke about her clash with the photographer: “It’s quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying.”
Roan added: “And I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that!”

Chappell Roan would go on to perform at the VMAs a few hours later, and was awarded Best New Artist – see the full list of winners here.
The incident marks the latest hurdle the ‘Hot To Go’ singer has had to face since her meteoric rise to fame throughout the course of the year. Roan recently spoke out against “weird” and “creepy” behaviour from fans, telling them: “That’s not normal.” She had previously made a promise to herself that she would quit music if “weird shit” started to affect her and her family.
Roan expressed wanting to “[pump] the brakes” on it after fans gave off “stalker vibes”. Her remarks earned her praise from Paramore‘s Hayley Williams, who took to Instagram to say the pop star was “brave”.
Since then, she has recently shared that a whole host of artists – including Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Hayley Williams, Katy Perry, MUNA, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, boygenius, Sabrina Carpenter and Mitski – have reached all out in support on the topic.

GloRilla has given fans a first taste of what to expect on her upcoming debut album, previewing a new track that borrows from a Southern Rap classic.
The Memphis rapper took to Instagram Live over the weekend, allowing fans to join her virtually while she was in the studio.
In one clip, reposted by The Shade Room, Big Glo can be seen rapping along to a snippet of a new song, which borrows both its cadence and beat from “Wipe Me Down,” the 2017 hit by Foxx-a-million, Boosie Badazz, Webbie.

GloRilla is set to punctuate 2024 with the release of her debut album, which she just revealed will be arriving next month.
Sharing the news with Extra TV while on the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday (September 11), Glo also gave a hint at the album title.
“I’m dropping an album next month, in October,” she said. “I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go number one! [The title] starts with a G.”
The LP follows the Memphis native’s mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang, which dropped in April. The 12-track project features appearances from Moneybagg Yo, Megan Thee Stallion, Kevo Money, Real Boston Richey and Finesse2Tymes.
It’s been quite the year for Big Glo, and she recently gave credit to a 2023 post from a fan that said she’d fallen off as to how she has been so successful.
Taking to X on Wednesday (September 4), Glo posted an October 2023 tweet that read: “Glorilla fell off so fast and bad [crying emojis].”
With a retweet, she shared her testimony.
“I remember bookmarking dis & telling myself ‘Dey gotchu fucked up so bad,’” she wrote. “dis post ain’t do shit but put a battery in my back i needed dat. don’t let dese people write yo story for you , Keep going !!!”
GloRilla achieved major success with her 2022 breakout single “FNF,” then followed it up with another successful single “Tomorrow.” Cardi B hopped on the latter and made it even bigger.
