The Murder Capital have announced details of their “biggest headline show to date” taking place in Dublin next year.
The Irish band announced the news today (December 16) with a new post on social media. Taking to Instagram, they confirmed news of a one-off gig, which will see them head to Dublin next summer.
Set to take place on July 19, the show will be held at the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin and become their biggest headline show to date. In the update, The Murder Capital also confirmed that special guests on the night will be British punk duo Soft Play – FKA Slaves – and London trio and former NME Cover stars Mary In The Junkyard.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (December 20) at 9am local time, and pre-sale options will be available from Wednesday (18) at 9am. Visit here for tickets, and check out the new tour poster in the update below.
For The Murder Capital, news of the new Dublin gig comes as they recently announced details of their upcoming album ‘Blindness’, which is set for release on February 21.
Confirming news of the new LP with the lead single ‘Words Lost Meaning’, the record will follow on from the Irish quintet’s acclaimed 2023 album ‘Gigi’s Recovery’, which arrived four years after their breakout debut ‘When I Have Fears’. You can pre-order it here.
Last month, frontman James McGovern caught up with NME to discuss the upcoming release, and explained how the members settled on the title.
“There were a couple of other titles that almost caught fire for us, but they were doused pretty quickly. ‘Blindness’ ended up being the one, looking at the themes across the record,” he said. “This denial of faith – also a grappling with faith – and an underbelly of Irishness running through it.”
He continued: “I think blindness is endemic in the human condition, really. We’re made of blind spots. We try to focus on things and meet each person, task and song with as true a heart as possible. But at the same time, it’s powerful to be aware of how much you can’t see.”
Elsewhere in the NME interview, McGovern spoke about how the band previewed some new material while on tour with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. “[Fans] seemed very into it! I suppose the big shining moment was with ‘Love Of Country’, when we figured out that it was a closer at the end of the set in Madrid,” he explained.
“That was inspired by the way Nick closes his show with ‘Into My Arms’. ‘Love Of Country’ is not as dynamically low as that, but in the context of our music, it’s down there – but it’s fucking intense. It was a really life-affirming moment.”
Usher, one of R&B's greatest showmen, might have just gotten shown up by a special guest at his recent concert. The Dallas, Texas-born singer is still trekking all across North America right now for his Past Present Future tour. There are a few reasons for this, including a neck injury and Hurricane Milton. The physical issue happened in August, and Mother Nature halted his plans in October. This led Usher to move these dates back. In fact, all of them were rescheduled for this month. The first three missed dates have already gone by, and the Miami shows are currently being knocked out. Last night (December 16) kicked things off and they began with a bang.
If you know Usher's routines at his performances, you know he loves to interact with the audience. That's especially true when it comes to his female concertgoers. Just a few days ago, the "Yeah!" hitmaker granted a birthday girl in the crowd to eat two cherries out of his hand mid-show. However, she didn't simply gobble them up. Instead, she got really sexual and raunchy with it before giving him a little booty shaking show.
He was left quite surprised, with his facial reaction on the big screen at the venue in a hilarious moment. Well, yesterday at the Kaseya Center was no different, but this time a celebrity was in the stands. Rubi Rose, model, entrepreneur, and rapper, made her way out to support Usher. He's got a history of tracking down women like her and creating viral memories, and trust us, they managed to make one.
Instead of two cherries, the star attraction dangled one in front of Rubi's face. She began to lick it (again a suggestive manner), but she stopped. Instead of going it alone, she called on a friend that was with her, and they both did their thing on it right in front of Usher. As you can see in the video above, his reaction was utterly priceless with the crowd laughing at his facial expression. Rubi wound up sharing the video on her Twitter, captioning the post, "When u shy but a real eater." Fans were similarly stunned but the stunt, with one writing, "Usher face is sending me bc I made the EXACT same face
