Taylor Swift addresses rumors about the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Taylor Swift has cleared up the speculation about why she won’t be taking the stage at the next Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The Cruel Summer singer had long been rumored to headline the 2026 Halftime Show in February, so fans were caught off guard when Bad Bunny was announced as the performer last week.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, Jimmy asked Taylor to respond to claims that she “turned down the Super Bowl because of performance footage.”

The 35-year-old laughed and said, “No,” before explaining the real story. “Here’s the thing. Jay-Z has always been incredibly kind to me. Our teams are very close. Sometimes they’ll reach out and ask, ‘How does she feel about the Super Bowl?’ but that’s not an official offer or a formal discussion... We’re always honest with him, and the truth is that I’m in love with a man who plays that sport on that very field.”

The pop icon, who is engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce, compared the game to “violent chess” and admitted that she’s too emotionally invested in his season to also prepare for a major halftime performance.

“Can you imagine if he’s out there every single week risking everything, playing this extremely intense, high-pressure sport, and I’m sitting there like, ‘Hmm, what should my choreography be? Maybe two verses of Shake It Off into Blank Space and then Cruel Summer?’” Taylor joked.

She added, “This has nothing to do with Travis; he’d love for me to do it. I’m just too focused.”

Taylor and Travis announced their engagement in August after two years together.

The 2026 Super Bowl is scheduled to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.
