Netflix in talks over Spice Girls docuseries from Take That creators

The Spice Girls are being lined up as the focus of a potential tell all documentary series for Netflix.

The producers behind the streaming platform’s recently released Take That three part series are keen for the iconic nineties girl group Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Horner, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham to share what they describe as a remarkable story.

Director David Soutar told the Daily Star: "The Spice Girls would be amazing next. We'll see how this one goes and then we'll speak to Spice Girls!"

Producer Gabe Turner has also made it clear that he would love for Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, to take part, despite her absence from the group’s 2019 reunion tour.

He said: "Posh is sensational.

"We make a fair amount of music and sport docs around pop culture so we're always looking opportunities, the Holy Grail really is the Spice Girls. I think the entire world would like to do Spice Girls.

"I'm having a lot of chat about how much I want to do the Spice Girls. I think the Spice Girls are fielding probably thousands of people saying they want to do the Spice Girls, I just hope someone gets to do it because I think it's another brilliant story."

Victoria fronted her own self titled documentary series last year, following the huge success of the series focused on her husband, retired football icon Sir David Beckham.

Soutar also shared that Take That handed the filmmakers full creative freedom on their project, allowing the story to be told honestly and without filters.

He explained: "The band were very generous with us, and we made it clear from the start that we basically needed creative control of the project.

"We kind of always fight for that because otherwise, what's the point in taking on the project? We're not just here to sort of show as purely a celebration of them. We want to do their justice story, but that's a massive responsibility to be a curator of someone else's story.

"And there's a huge pressure with that because then you are presenting your version of their story to the band, the people subject, and then also out to the world. So it's hard for them. But they understood, and I think mainly that was because we offered them the context in the start. I think we explained that we're not just going to be just taking them through the best days with the highlights. This isn't the highlight reel. We're going to be taking them to the other elements of their story. And I think because we talked about it beforehand, that's sort of our style. We don't just ambush you, we give them the context, make sure they know what's coming, and then get them prepared for it so that you can take me to those places, and they were very generous in letting us take them to those places."

Revisiting that period proved especially tough for Gary Barlow, who was required to confront his past battle with an eating disorder as well as his highly publicised fallout with former bandmate Robbie Williams.

Charli xcx open to the idea of making a James Bond theme

Charli xcx has said she would be willing to consider recording a James Bond theme, though she is doubtful it would ever come together due to her heavy use of AutoTune.

The Chains of Love artist recently worked on the soundtrack for the Margot Robbie led Wuthering Heights film and admitted she would not completely rule out contributing music to the famous spy franchise.

Speaking with Julia Cunningham on her SiriusXM show, Charli explained her hesitation. “I got to say, I don’t think that I am built for that.

“I think I probably sing with too much AutoTune to do a James Bond. Never say never. I’m open to it if they want to call me, which they won’t but, yeah. I think it might not be a fit, but that’s, well, yeah. It’s not going to happen now, is it? So amazing. I don’t know.”

Charli, who is currently promoting her mockumentary The Moment, has also shared that she is keen to take on more acting projects.

Talking to Extra, she said: “It’s amazing.

“I feel so inspired to be working in film, whether that be as an actor or a producer or doing the soundtrack.

“I just I feel like really passionate about working with directors who I think have a singular vision, and I feel so grateful that I’m a part of both of the projects.”

When asked whether she would like to continue acting in the future, Charli answered: “Yeah, I’d love to. I’d love to.”

Meanwhile, the singer has recently described herself as being “quite a volatile person”.

The pop star, who married drummer George Daniel in 2025, also spoke about how closely she connects with her character in The Moment.

While appearing at the Sundance Film Festival, Charli said: “I’m obviously quite related to my character, so I had a lot of inspiration to pull from.

“I would like to think I’m not as much of a nightmare as Charli in the film, but my real managers are in the audience and they probably know the true answer to that.”

She went on to note that her character goes through several “spiral moments” throughout the film and reflected on the similarities and differences between herself and the role.

The chart topping artist, who found massive success with her Brat album in 2024, added: “I have been there. I think I am, as an artist, quite a volatile person. And nice though. I am quite nice too. Right?”
