The xx have confirmed when they will be stepping back onto the stage for their much anticipated return to live shows.
The London trio are set to reunite this year for their first performances together since 2018, when they finished touring behind their most recent studio album, ‘I See You’ from 2017.
Their first booked appearances of 2026 will see them play Coachella in April. They are also scheduled for festival stops including Kilby Block Party, Primavera Sound Barcelona and Porto, We Love Green, Open’er, Rock Werchter and others.
The xx have now shared that they will play a show the week before Coachella. In a post across social media, they announced that their “first show back in a while” will take place on Saturday April 4.
They encouraged fans to “sign up to be the first to know what’s next”, which you can do here. A full announcement with further details is set to arrive on Monday February 23. See the post below.
Last March, photos surfaced of The xx working together in the studio after Jamie xx mentioned they were “having a good time” creating new material during the summer of 2024. Then in September 2025, they posted rehearsal clips shortly after the Coachella line up was revealed.
“Picking up our instruments again. See you in the desert?” they wrote at the time.
The group also appeared together onstage last summer at the 2025 LIDO Festival in London, where Jamie xx was the headline act.
Since releasing their last album as a band, each member of The xx has focused on solo work. Romy released her debut solo album ‘Mid Air’ in 2023, and toward the end of last year she shared the “proudly queer love song” ‘Love Who You Love’. Oliver Sim put out his first solo record, ‘Hideous Bastard’, in 2022, followed by two songs in 2025 titled ‘Obsession’ and ‘Telephone Games’. Jamie xx released his second solo album ‘In Waves’ in 2024, which included the track ‘Waited All Night’ featuring his bandmates from The xx. He also dropped the single ‘Dream Night’ last July.
Speaking with NME at the BRIT Awards 2024 about new music from The xx, Romy said: “We’re just keeping it really open and we’re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That’s all I can say right now.”
She added: “We’ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it’s cool to learn from each other again. We grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them… it’s been a healthy break.”
Elsewhere, The xx recently issued a deluxe version of their 2009 self titled debut album, complete with additional tracks and cover versions.
