London’s LIDO Festival has had to call off two of its planned three days, adding more strain to the city’s live music landscape.
The update, shared on Thursday, April 9, arrives shortly after Wireless Festival was canceled following Ye being denied entry into the United Kingdom on April 7. The Home Office explained that Ye’s previous antisemitic and pro Nazi remarks meant allowing him into the country would be “not in the public good.” The situation followed backlash from several prominent political figures and the withdrawal of sponsors tied to the event.
LIDO had been scheduled to run at Victoria Park from June 12 through June 14. In a message shared on its social platforms, organizers confirmed that the dates led by CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club will no longer go ahead. The day headlined by Maribou State has instead been moved to Aug. 31.
Organizers explained that the decision was made to “protect park ground conditions” at Victoria Park, which hosted both LIDO and All Points East in 2025. The latter event faced widely reported dust problems caused by last summer’s drought.
“Protecting the condition of Victoria Park is of paramount importance to LIDO and to London Borough of Tower Hamlets,” the statement said, adding that an “extensive reseeding and improvement programme” is currently underway to help preserve the grounds.
At the same time, the United Kingdom has experienced one of its wettest winters in recent years, leading advisors to suggest “giving these newly improved areas a little more time before starting the festival programme.” The park remains open to local residents, and organizers noted that the cancellations “ensures the progress made is protected and continues to benefit the community throughout the spring and early summer.”
CMAT had been scheduled to perform on June 12 alongside Father John Misty and Sharon Van Etten, while Bombay Bicycle Club and Metronomy were set for June 14. Organizers confirmed that these dates will not be rescheduled and will be fully canceled, with ticket holders set to receive complete refunds.
Victoria Park is still set to host All Points East in August, with artists such as Tyler, The Creator, Deftones, Lorde and Twenty One Pilots among those headlining.
