Here’s What Chris Brown Had to Say About the Petition Fighting to Ban His South Africa Concerts

Chris Brown has responded to a petition looking to ban him from performing a pair of concerts in South Africa later this year.

A women’s rights advocacy group launched a petition that had nearly 40,000 signatures as of press time on Wednesday (Oct. 16), and C. Breezy hopped into the Women for Change Instagram comments with an unfazed reply to their efforts.

“Can’t wait to come,” Brown wrote with a heart emoji.

The comment was left under a post detailing Women for Change’s battle to stop gender-based violence. “Thanks to @darrencampher.com_ and everyone standing with us. This goes beyond Chris Brown – it’s about standing up for millions of survivors of Gender-Based Violence,” the caption reads. “Join us in demanding accountability, Sign the Petition!”

The embattled R&B superstar’s comment has over 6,000 likes as fans had plenty to say while chiming in to support Brown’s cheeky response. “Tickets are secured, lessss goo,” one excited fan wrote.

Women for Change initially launched the petition on Oct. 2 on Change.org. The BBC reports that South Africa has a long history of abuse and one of the “highest rates of femicide and gender-based violence in the world.”

According to the petition, the group wants the concert’s promoters and South African government to “reconsider” having Brown perform a pair of shows at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium in mid-December.

“When I saw the news that Chris Brown was coming to South Africa, I was shocked and deeply disappointed,” Women for Change executive director Sabina Walter said to the BBC. “The petition was started to send a strong message that we will not tolerate the celebration of individuals with a history of violence against women.”

Walter added: “When someone like Chris Brown is given a platform in a country where GBV is at crisis levels, it sends a damaging message — that fame and power outweigh accountability.”

Even with the backlash, there remains an overwhelming demand for tickets to see Brown at his Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 shows. He reportedly sold out the 94,000-capacity venue in less than two hours, causing show organizers to add a second FNB Stadium date.

Olivia Rodrigo has announced her biggest ever UK show with a headline slot at BST Hyde Park 2025.

The ‘Guts’ singer will perform in London on Friday, June 27 next year and is the fifth artist to join next year’s line-up after Noah KahanJeff Lynne’s ELOZach Bryan and Hugh Jackman were all previously confirmed to headline BST.

Support will come from The Last Dinner Party and Girl In Red with more acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets go on general sale this Friday (November 15) at 9am GMT and can be purchased here. A presale will also be held from 9am GMT today (November 11) until 8am Friday and tickets can be purchased here.

Speculation will grow following the announcement that Rodrigo could well headline Glastonbury next year with her headline slot at Hyde Park coming on the same weekend.

She also has free slots on June 28 and 29 before she performs at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on the Monday (June 30).

She previously pulled a mammoth crowd to The Other Stage in 2022 and Rodrigo is already one of the bookies’ favourites to top the Pyramid Stage in 2025.

Other rumoured headliners include Sam Fender and Green Day, while Cher was in “meaningful talks” about taking on the coveted Legends slot, which this year was taken on by Shania Twain.

Tickets for the Worthy Farm bash go on sale this week with coach and ticket packages going on sale at 6pm (GMT) on Thursday (November 14), followed by standard tickets at 9am (GMT) on Sunday (November 17). Tickets will be sold exclusively here.

Last year’s BST Hyde Park line-up featured headliners Stevie NicksKylie MinogueStray KidsSZAKings Of LeonMorgan WallenAndrea BocelliRobbie Williams and Shania Twain.

Elsewhere, Rodrigo recently removed a song from TikTok after it was used by Donald Trump‘s campaign team.

The singer has been a vocal reproductive rights activist, having announced the launch of The Fund 4 Good initiative earlier this year as part of the ‘Guts’ world tour.

As she explained back in February, it works to “support all women, girls and people seeking reproductive health freedom” and will “directly support community based non-profits that champion things like girls’ education, support reproductive rights, and prevent gender-based violence.”

Over the course of her career, Rodrigo has been a staunch supporter of reproductive rights, with the singer saying she was “heartbroken” over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade back in 2022.

Ahead of the election, Rodrigo also endorsed Trump’s rival Kamala Harrisbased on her stance on reproductive rights.
