Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm tied the knot with Australian model Chris Dingwall during an intimate celebration in the British countryside on Saturday, July 18. According to British Vogue, the 52 year old singer, who became famous as “Sporty Spice” in the Spice Girls, wore a simple white gown that reached the floor and carried a bouquet of wildflowers at Country House Cumbria in the Lake District.
Several of her Spice Girls bandmates attended the ceremony, including Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown and Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell-Horner. Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham was absent because she was in New York for Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup third place match, where England defeated France 6 to 4, as well as Sunday’s final between Spain and Argentina.
The publication explained that Dingwall proposed while the couple was vacationing in Mallorca last July. They then started arranging their summer wedding, which also involved a legal ceremony in Australia, the groom’s home country, before Saturday’s gathering. Although Beckham could not attend in person, Chisholm fulfilled the “something borrowed” tradition by wearing a design from her fellow singer’s fashion label.
“I was actually having dinner with Melanie and asked her what she was up to,” Beckham told British Vogue. “She very casually told me she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married! When I asked what she was wearing, she mentioned she had actually ordered one of my dresses but that it didn’t quite fit, and she didn’t have time to get it altered before leaving. I happened to have that exact dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her.”
The lace cami was among several options selected by Melanie’s stylist before the wedding, but the bride called it “the best, hands down. There’s just something about her clothes… they have a real simplicity, especially the slip dresses. They’re really feminine, but in a way that feels comfortable, and very me.” Beckham then helped resolve the sizing problem, allowing Chisholm to bring the outfit with her when she flew to Australia. “Victoria’s dress was my something borrowed,” Chisholm said. “It was very special, having her there.”
When Beckham discovered that Chisholm was also planning a larger UK ceremony, she offered to create her “dream dress,” taking inspiration from the original lace cami. “Victoria wanted to make it much more personal to me. She found some gorgeous vintage lace, and everything was really delicately dyed to the perfect shade. It’s very flattering, open at the back,” Chisholm shared. She first connected with Dingwall through the private celebrity dating app Raya in 2023 and has a 17 year old daughter, Scarlett Starr, with her former partner Thomas Starr.
Despite being unable to attend the special occasion, Beckham was represented through her design. British Vogue later released several pictures from the celebration, showing the newlyweds walking hand in hand, Chisholm completing her final fitting and the bride posing beside her fellow Spice Girls members.

Robbie Williams has released an updated edition of the Official FIFA Anthem ‘Desire’ before the World Cup Final, teaming up with Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini for the new recording.
The singer was appointed the official Music Ambassador for football’s international governing body last summer. Soon afterwards, he released the single alongside Laura Pausini, making it the first official FIFA anthem in history.
Williams and Pausini debuted the track live last July before Chelsea faced Paris Saint Germain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Williams later performed it with Scherzinger at the Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Williams has now unveiled a fresh edition of the song before appearing at the closing ceremony for the 2026 World Cup. Unlike the original recording, which only included Williams and Pausini, this version also welcomes the Pussycat Dolls singer. All three artists take turns singing before combining their voices during the emotional chorus.
The trio will deliver their first live performance of the song together during Sunday’s closing ceremony on July 19.
UK viewers can follow the event on BBC One. It will take place at New York New Jersey Stadium shortly before Spain face Argentina. Post Malone, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Hudson are also scheduled to appear, with around two billion viewers worldwide expected to tune in.
Shakira and Burna Boy helped launch the tournament’s opening ceremony last month by performing ‘Dai Dai’. Future, Katy Perry, Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Ellie Goulding have also appeared throughout the competition. Goulding performed before England defeated Norway 2 to 1 in the quarter finals.
Sunday’s World Cup final will also introduce the tournament’s first Halftime Show alongside the closing ceremony. Coldplay singer Chris Martin organised the performance, which will follow a format similar to the Super Bowl and include appearances from Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira and BTS.
The occasion will benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which hopes to generate $100 million, or £74.5 million, to improve access to education and football for children around the world.
However, the decision to add a Halftime Show has divided supporters. The Cure frontman Robert Smith is among its critics, posting the hashtag “#pleasejustfuckoff” on Instagram before later commenting on the possibility of Donald Trump presenting the trophy to the champions.
Before Spain and Argentina meet in Sunday’s final, England and France will compete for third place tomorrow, Saturday July 18.
Williams also has other connections to football beyond his work on the FIFA anthem. Last month, he was announced as Port Vale FC’s Foundation Ambassador and official front of shirt partner.
The pop star has supported the club throughout his life and agreed to a two year partnership. His ‘RW’ logo will appear on the front of Port Vale’s home and away kits during the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons.
